We bring distinctive, delicious, exceedingly fresh meats, produce,
and cheeses from Upstate farms directly to the kitchen doors
of City chefs.
Our goals are to help chefs source food from New York State
farms, and help farmers to find new markets for their products.
Chefs can expect:
- Expert services of a knowledgeable Liaison dedicated to
coordinating orders between chefs and farmers.
- Reliable, regular, delivery to your kitchen door.
- Online ordering 24-hours a day*.
- One-stop shopping for a variety of meat and produce.
- Access to products from farms in three counties, many of
which have not previously been represented at Greenmarkets.
- Arranged tours of farms in three counties.
- Publicity through the Farm to Chef, Inc. Website and
other promotional materials.
- Education and networking sessions (see Table
Talks)
Dedicated Farmers
Our
small family farms are located 200 miles due north of New York
City. Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Washington counties hug the
Hudson River, just south of the Adirondack Mountains. Some of
the farms in this region have been in the same family for generations,
while others have been established recently.
Meat, cheeses, fruits, vegetables, and eggs and are some of
the items produced by these families.
Farmers have made a pledge to offer only the freshest and highest
quality items to chefs purchasing through this program.
Certified Organic, low or no pesticide use, integrated pest
management (IPM), no antibiotics, no growth hormones, pasture-raised,
free-range, and grass-fed are some of the practices used by
our skilled farmers.
