Farmer Resources

Farm to Chef, Inc. (FCX) is creating direct marketing and distribution links between farmers of Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Washington Counties and New York City chefs.

FCX has promoted cooperation among:

  • Farmers who can sell an array of distinctive, delicious, exceedingly fresh meats, fruits, vegetables, maple products, and cheeses directly to the kitchen doors of City chefs.
  • Chefs who are preparing gourmet meals from locally raised products for consumers who are asking to support the sustainable agricultural practices of their region.
  • A Marketing Liaison who markets this concept to all participants, coordinates the orders and delivery, and manages the efforts, which facilitate the entire network web of relationships.

NY is a great agricultural state and FCX highlights the possibilities of the future of these types of networks across the state.

Services For Producers

FCX offers farmers a variety of services:

  • Vigorously markets individual farms and farm products to chefs in NYC.
  • Provides guidance and technical assistance to farmers regarding wholesale pricing, packaging, quality standards, chef's' expectations, etc.
  • Provides weekly web-based and/or faxed transmittals to chefs of farm-specific products available for sale.
  • Provides printed packing slips to each restaurant and each farm.
  • Provides cost subsidized product transportation to NYC chefs for the duration of the grant.
  • Works with farmers and transporters to minimize transportation inconvenience.
  • Features each farm on an individual page on the Farm to Chef Express website.
  • Provides or helps access technical assistance and marketing guidance for development of website information/advertising, etc.

To join FCX, please complete the Farmer Information Sheet and sign the Producer Commitment sheet with your $40 membership fee made payable to:

Please note, a remaining $60 is due after you have sold $500 of product through the program.
